It’s that time of the year again! Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to accidentally stumble upon the red carpet this year, but hopefully, I’ll bestow the Museum Mile with my presence next year. I was impressed with this years theme: China: Through the Looking Glass, and just how many that dressed according to the theme. Then again, I suspect that this theme was a little easier to translate into something glamorous. It’s fascinating to see how trends emerge, and how it’s been all about wearing as exclusive and luxurious fabrics as possible to not wearing any at all. Yes, I am talking about the controversial trend of the naked dress, which I can’t decide if I like or not. Beyonce and Kim Kardashian pull the trend off effortlessly, but it’s not something I want to see on the type of people that follow them. I already see enough crop tops on people who should have a court ordered restriction from these garments.
In other news, I was surprised by the amount of people who came wearing punk-styled outfits on the red carpet. I am sure we all remember that the Punk gala was 2 years ago. I’m guessing that these people out-lated the 2-hour late Beyonce with 2 years. In terms of trends on the carpet, with fabric included, there was a surprising amount of red dresses on the carpet. I was expecting more blue and Cinderella inspired looks, but reds, black, gold and prints were the main looks last night.
