Is it just me or are the years passing by faster by every year? It’s terrifying!
And at this point we’ve all scrolled through our Instagram and Facebook and seen how people have been summarizing 2014 while bidding farewell to another year. For the first time, I have actually also seen posts about people who haven’t had very great years.
2014… Wow, what can I say? It’s been an eventful year! I would call it the year of cultural self-enlightenment. I have spent more time focusing on what I enjoy rather than what people expect from me. I have experienced things that I couldn’t even have imagined. I’ve been to shows that have changed me; Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Real Thing, The Book of Mormon and Wicked, where the latter is the first show I saw this year. I found a love for theater and musicals. I went to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, by whom I also got a high five. Mari and I had a serious conversation about nail polish with Michael C. Hall and we sang a personalized song to Andrew Rannels. I finally met Ewan McGregor, and I was blown away.
I finally have my own apartment, living with Mari. We have an amazing cookie deal, which I believe is about to end tomorrow. We have a trip booked for March, and I have absolutely no idea where we’re going. We have a relationship that is so laid back that it is okay not to talk while sitting in the same room. I appreciate that. As a team, I have picked up photography, a hobby that I haven’t been able to afford until this point. How can you not take pictures in such a picturesque city as New York?
When it comes to school, I keep enforcing that knowledge is power. I tend to go the extra mile, and I enjoy it. Through these years in college, I appreciate Theory of Knowledge more and more. I have also learned that grades really don’t define who you are as a person, but it is okay to be proud of accomplishments. I have taken Ethics, which really makes me question people and situations in an entirely new way. I wonder what Psychology is going to do to me next semester…
2014 has been nothing less than unexpected. Through experiencing all these things that make me immensely happy, I have also managed to figure out what I want to do with my life. I think. Let’s see if I’m sticking to the same thing next year. To end this post, I am adding the last spectacular thing I did this year; Photoshoot with the one and only Jon Vidar Strømstad.
As for now, I would like to thank you for being a part of this spectacular year, and I hope that your next year will be as great as mine was this year.
– To Joy, Knowledge, Respect and great Champagne! Happy New Year!
