It all started with a long walk to school. Because the weather was rather pleasant, I decided to walk the one-hour stretch to school rather than taking the train. Upon arrival I discovered that I had managed to forget my metro card at home, leaving me with few other options than walking home.
For my walk home, my dear friend Ana joined me, and we decided to walk up Madison Ave, one of NYC’s treasured avenues. The traffic was crazy and we kept on making jokes on how we were running late for the most grandiose event in fashion; The Met Gala, also known as The Met Ball. As we walked, we saw gorgeous women in magnificent dresses running out of their cars to the closest hotel in high heels. We kept on walking and smiled as we saw how Yorkville was now turned upside down. The paparazzi was running through cars in order to get a sight of the celebrities in the cars. We decided to continue our walk on 5th Avenue, passing The Metropolitan Museum, and hopefully get a glimpse of the event. And we sure did.
We planned on staying by the entrance for a few minutes, but we were stranded there for about two hours. The people were cheering and lights were flashing. We managed to get great spots for looking at the dresses as the starts exited the cars, and we saw about everyone that was worth seeing. To give a small list of people, we saw; The Beckhams, Leighton Meester, Beyonce & Jay-Z, Kim & Kanye, Karlie Kloss, Taylor Swift, Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds, Gisele & Tom Brady, Lea Michele, Anne Hathaway etc. The ones that we did not see include First Lady Michelle Obama and Anna Wintour, but we got a glimpse of the rest. I tried to take pictures, but as there was a lot of traffic, we all eventually gave up.
Here are my favorite looks of the night. Which ones did you like?
And here are some of the pictures that I managed to take
